Zalman CNPS10x Extreme Vs Corsair H50, Which is better?

Hey, I'm currently using the Zalman cooler. I like it, but it's HUGE. My i7 860 idles around 40C on the lowest speed, would it be worth it to sell the Zalman and go with an H50 or another cooler?

Also I'm using AS5, should I invest into some MX3 or Shin Etsu(I think that's what it's called) to drop the temps?

I have never read/seen anything that has convinced me that the H50 (to me it is a gimic that happens to work well enough to get by) is all that it is made out to be. It holds its own with the better open air coolers.

Your temps are not bad, not sure how that chip is on temps but seem a little warm if you are not overclocking. You may want to reseat and re add your TIM and see if that helps any. IMO, I don't think that you will notice a significant difference considering your cooler is one of the better in the market.

I've reseated it a couple of times as I was adjusting some things, and it always seems to be around those temps. Should I attempts to put a better fan in than whats there? I don't know if that's possible though because of that plastic housing and controller. I'm thinking now that I should probably just get some better thermal paste and attempt a better fan.

Edit: Also, I'm apply about half a pee size dot of AS5 on the processor and letting the cooler smooth it out. Should I be doing anything different because of the mirror finish on the cooler?
