If the refresh rate is 60hz... that thing about 54fps consistent or whatever...
could the 30FPS be because it uses vsync?

hey, GTA:SA taught us (with framecap on) that 30fps can be fine if it is powerful enough to run without lag(i.e. keep the buffer up)

Asphalt 5 lags a little on most phones. only at intense parts. Even on my N1 it does. but now I'm on Froyo and Oc'd it doesn't.

I think 30 FPS is fine.. but this can always be fixed with a update from HTC, or with the huge XDA community

You guys saying 30 fps is fine, keep in mind that Android's target framerate is 60fps, limiting it artificially to 30 is lame.

People notice stuttering in a lot of applications that are otherwise nonexistent on HTC Heroes and Nexus Ones, with Android 2.1.

I have an Evo and it doesn't really bother me honestly but I'd like to see them acknowledge and fix the problem, because these phones are powerhouses, and shouldn't be limited in any way.

24 fps is hardly a modern thing. It's only that way because that's what film settled at.

As for the FPS, 50 to 60 fps feels far better, especially in a menu with smooth animations like Android's.

The only valid reason to do this is power savings.

A stuttering video is a video with an unstable framerate or a framerate that is not a multiple of the refresh rate (so the duplicate frames, if any, are not in a consistent pattern).

A choppy video is a video which doesn't have the temporal resolution required to make whatever appear to move smoothly.
