Dell U2410

Thread Starter
browsing through the internet when i found this
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/sys/1785874305.html

should i jump on this deal?

what questions should i ask before buying?

also im wondering what is the difference between an IPS and TN Monitor?
It's up to you if you jump on this deal, just make sure it's not a scam. $225 seems really low for BNIB when they go on Dell fore ~$500. You should see it in person and take it out with him there to make sure there is nothing wrong and he's not scamming you.

The difference between an IPS and TN monitor is the way the pixels display the image. I won't go into detail, but here is the breakdown:

TN
Pros
-Cheaper
-Faster response time (negligible)
-Cheaper

Cons
-Viewing angles are worse
-Color reproduction is not accurate

IPS
Pros
-Excellent viewing angles-nearly 180 degrees
-Excellent color reproduction great for photo editors etc

Cons
-More expensive
-Slower response (you likely won't notice this in games)
-Way more expensive
-Did I mention more expensive?

For this price this monitor is a steal, but I don't know if it is legitimate. That's the main concern with this posting.

I would have a hard time buying something on craigslist that I had never seen. I bet it's some Nigerian scamster.

While I agree that there are lot of scams going on on CL, I buy and sell there often and I usually get some pretty good deals, it's just like deal hunting pretty much. The downside is you buy from a private owner so the condition of the items are vary depend on how they use it. But once again in my experience I got a bunch of good stuff on there, just be sure to go check it out and see it in action before you make your purchase. For more than half the price, it's a no brainer consider that's a pretty darn good monitor.

If it's too good to be true, it usually is. Why would the guy not just return the monitor if his wife bought the same one?
