i got my new motherboard today p5q pro turbo and im trying to install xp. i load the raid drivers from usb floppy and then it loads all these files. when it says "setup is loading windows" or something, right before you agree and choose HD installation, it shuts off and says the whole "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer". why cant i install? even when i dont load raid drivers it does this

I recommend using the latest RAID drivers from Intel:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/down...15251&lang=eng

I had an issue once with installing an OS and I removed all the add in cards to include a wirleless card and sound card, then I was able to install. So I recommend you try removing all add-in cards not needed for the install, then load the RAID drivers and install the OS.

You also might have a problem installing with 4Gb ram and an 896Mb of video ram (GTX 260). 32bit is going to limit your usable ram. So on that note, remove one stick of ram and try installing.

Is this a retail/OEM copy of the install disc, or a burned ISO? If the latter try re-burning if possible on another computer at the lowest burn speed. Could be a bad image.

Do you mean it gives you the error then shuts off?

Disable one of the disks and enable AHCI istead

I have gotten a problem like this before, recently actually.
My solution was to change AHCI to RAID..

Change that in your BIOS and see if it makes any difference (or change RAID to AHCI)

Correct. When you enable RAID mode, (which also enables ACHI), it gives the system optimal flexibility. When you disable one disk, eliminating RAID, switch back to AHCI.

There may have been a problem with the RAID drivers.
