So its time for me to buy a new graphics card. I have been a nvidia user my whole life and i think its time for a change. I have had my eye on the 5850 and the 5870. I am leaning more towards the 5870 atm and wanted to get a few of yall's opinions on the 5870. and which brand would yall recommend the most.

Brand wouldn't be as important to me as getting a reference card. Reference cards can have the voltages adjusted for higher clocks. It's a great card by the way, the heat and power consumption is so low in comparison to the performance it achieves.

I have a 5870 and a 480, also had a 470.

If you F@H, go GTX, if not then the 5870 is the way to go.
You'll get nearly identical game play with the 5870 as you would with the more expensive, hotter, power hungry monster known as the GTX480.

Don't get me wrong, the 480 is definitely a beast of a card, but IMO not worth the premium over the 5870.

EDIT> What Smykster said, if you want voltage control get a reference design 5870.

I love my Vapor-X 5870, even tho it doesn't have voltage control I'm fine with 900MHz through CCC. Runs in the low 50s when gaming, higher 50s with the newer more demanding games like BC2 all while being completely silent.

Brands may not be a key point for reference card.
However, for brand-made card, brand does matter.
I myself think that these cards are good brand-made cards.

By the way, after-sold services, as my humble opinion, is also an important thing.
