I don't know how those games render. There is a list on Wide Screen Gaming Forum about how each game handles aspect ratio (at least popular ones).

I'd say, overall, 16:9 might be better for gaming, but non gaming, 16:10 is king.

I'd have to disagree, the 16:10 is almost exclusively used in desktop settings. I'd always take a 16:10 monitor over a 16:9 unless the 16:9 was a noticeably better monitor over all (such as the U2711).

Does 16:10 really make that big of a difference that it's worth $300 more than 16:9?

I don't get it. You have to disagree, and then you agree with me...? I said 16:10 is better in desktop setting. The exact word I used was "king" (with the exception of the u2711, which throws a wrench into that ). In games, 16:9 does give games a wider view (games, not desktop usage)

In my opinion, yes. And I wouldn't pay more than $500 for the u2410, its not hard to find it for that price, and that brings the price difference down to $200, with 1" gained as well (over the u2311h.)

I'm sorry man I miss read your post cause I was about to pass out.

I still wish the u2711 was 16:10, but the price tag on it is already extremely expensive and that would have added another $500.

Make sure it has 1:1 scaling from content that is made for widescreen displays if you're going with 1980x1200. Or.., get an FW900.

If its not 120hz I wouldnt even look at it for gaming.

I just switched to the acer 24" 120hz (just prior to the alienware sale price for their 120hz) and I could never go back to a 60hz for gaming. Dont take my word for it, check around and you will find its pretty clear from anybody who made the switch to 120hz ~ they all say the same thing, the difference is amazing and once you go 120hz you will never go back.

EDIT~ forgot to mention I was worried about going to 1920x1080 from x1200 but like the guy said above the games to scale better and were being 'stretched' that last bit. I dont even notice now.

Only important if you hook a console or medai player to it. A PC can handle the scaling itself with the graphics card.
