they are very similar.. the first gen 2410's had some green/pink issue but (for the most part) the newer gen 2410's are fine.

for some reason i give a slight edge to the 2408 for picture quality, but we are talking -slight-.

however the sleek/classic look of the 2410's stand and touch side buttons combined with a similiar picture quality to the 2408 makes it imo the undisputed king at its price point.

Why do you want an ips panel for gaming though? They are better for photo and video editing, kind of a waste to buy one for gaming when a $180 monitor beats it in performance. If you do Photoshop work then totally awesome monitor though.
if that's true then i'm kinda chocked..

didn't know that when i upgraded to the 2410's : /

however the 2410 has a 6ms response time and also has 'game mode' not sure if that helps..

You'll get the same expirience n a 1200p, with some black bars. It's 1080p+

I have yet to find a TN $180 panel that can match an IPS in colors. Why would good looking colors not affect a game? It's a huge difference. I've also noticed I'm better able to differentiate detail in shadows, might just be my monitor, or it might be the 8 bit display, vs the 6 bit TN.

Then you come to the fact that in desktop and movie usage, IPS blows TN out of the water...only point to get a TN is if you can tell the tiny difference in response time (unlikely) or you want 120Hz (I don't think it's worth it, or noticeable to me, but some do)

You will not regret getting a 120hz monitor from gaming. I've done a review on the Alienware 120hz ( same panel as the Acer more or less ). If you HAVE any questions about it feel free to PM me. I am so happy with this monitor for gaming, wouldn't want anything else.

I just switched to the acer 24" 120hz (just prior to the alienware sale price for their 120hz) and I could never go back to a 60hz for gaming. Dont take my word for it, check around and you will find its pretty clear from anybody who made the switch to 120hz ~ they all say the same thing, the difference is amazing and once you go 120hz you will never go back.

EDIT~ forgot to mention I was worried about going to 1920x1080 from x1200 but like the guy said above the games to scale better and were being 'stretched' that last bit. I dont even notice now.
Agreed. If you play FPS games mostly, then you won't look back if you go 120hz. If you do any type of photo retouching/reproducing, go IPS.

I'm waiting for more 120hz to enter the market to take the dive.

It's really simple. Good luck/

Will they make 1920x1200 120hz?

I recently picked up a Dell U2410(rev. A01) and I've been REALLY impressed with it. I used to have a Dell 2405FPW and thought that the picture on that thing was amazing. As soon as I powered up the U2410, I noticed the difference. There were colors present that weren't being displayed before. Also, the picture was sharper and the uniformity was unbelievable. The factory calibration settings are good, but I made some improvements to make it look even better! I'm seeing so many new colors in games and applications that I could never see before. It's almost as if my GPU got an upgrade along with the new monitor. Haha.

I'm voting for the U2410, 'cause of the great price(Got mine for $475 SHIPPED), great warranty, wide viewing angle, sleek design, tilt & swivel capability and awesome picture quality.

Good luck!
