So to conclude, Macs are good, to the average user they are amazing, to us (the enthusiast) they are average.
and NOBODY likes propriety technology (apart from Mr. Dell and Mr. Jobs)
you may have saved a lot of money building your own, but are you willing to support however many computers at a workplace single handedly? That is why companies contract IT businesses to handle all of that, and that involves a lot of overhead costs that dont allow fully decked out computers. That's great you were able to save your boss money, but that's just ONE computer.
I remember a thread a while back where a lab teacher was thinking of building computers for his lab. He would have to handle all of the support issues for each and also RMAs and what not.
with apple and dell you get top tier support, from genius bars to onsite technicians.
for me the support you get with a mac is second to none. Like Dell, they overnight parts to AASPs and if they're good they can get it done same day, totaling a turn around within 2 days. Try getting an RMA back within a week for a custom build.Edited by ez12a - 6/11/10 at 10:41am
