Nearly 30 metres deep and 20 metres wide, the hole formed during a deadly tropical storm in late May.
You'd be able to see the bottom. Photoshopped for sure.

Looks like the Predators are getting ready to head into their temple again. lol.

Honestly. These similiar sinkholes are appearing everywhere in the world and more frequent. Does anyone NOT think that pumping oil out of the ground would leave a massive void? The BP situation is losing millions of gallons a day. Thats a huge void they are creating. Eventually, the ground must give way, either creating a massive sinkhole somewhere, or creating an earthquake.

The Guatemala City sinkhole, estimated to be 60 feet (18 meters) wide and 300 feet (100 meters) deep, appears to have been triggered by the deluge from tropical storm Agatha.

And of course the hole is round. What else did you guys expect, a triangular sinkhole?

Also, I doubt anyone has gone down there to check it out, way too dangerous. That's probably why they can't confirm 100% what caused it. The limestone bedrock theory seems VERY likely, I've seen it happen underground before.

When there is an underground collapse and sand starts filling the large void, material is fed from above until the gap is filled. Of course, the material is fed through in a circular fashion (think hourglass). So to me, the circular shape is the least intriguing thing here.
Only a 100ft deep Why on earth would they photoshop these?

These are much better pictures.

The OP (and thread title) has 30m in it, which really makes me question the reliability of the source.

I could see a reason to photoshop a smaller hole though. Make it look like a bottomless hole.

Why? 30m=100ft...I think people are underestimating how high/deep 100ft is.

EDIT. Oh, the NatGeo has different dimensions. I see.

Fair enough, Its all perspective and how the photo is taken really. Some cameras can fool you into thinkings its shopped due to the image being scaled down and not to proportion.

Wonder how much sand maybe required to fill that hole.
