Xiggy S1283 vs. Dark Knight

Thread Starter
Does anyone know if the Dark Knight comes with a bolt down kit as opposed to the S1283 that has that lil clasp for AMD. I know via pics through the egg it shows a bolt down pate but it clearly says LGA 775. Not sure if it applies to AMD as well or theres another plate. But basically I am sick and tired of breaking the lil nubs off of the retention plate for my CPU.

It comes with a bolt down kit and screws instead of the pushpins that the regular version uses.

AMD only gets the clamp thingy. Unless you get a custom mount made.
There's no point getting a Dark Knight if you have an AMD setup. $6 is $6. The bolt thru kit is intel only.

I always thought the stock "clampy" mount for AMD's was fantastic.

For AMD you don't need backplate, I like their solution for that better than Intel push pin, its like a backplate already you just put that clamp, so you don't need backplate thats my opinion ...

And then if you have AMD only two differences between Dark Knight and regular s1283 are that Dark Knight is nickel plated (it looks cool) and it comes with better fan that has 1000-2200rpm opposite of 800-1500rpm for regular s1283 which could be easily changed ...

True that you don't need a backplate with AMD, maybe that's why I got confused when I switched over to Intel.

With the way AMD designed the mounting clips, you can only mount the Xig/DK horizontally. You can have a custom made bracket that allows you to mount it vertically and have the air blow out the back. There's someone on here that does it, I can't seem to remember the name right now.

Well I'm familiar with Intel so I haven't paid attention to that, that it can be mounted only horizontally, and that's not good if u have fan that extracts air out from back of the case, but if that fan is on top of the case than there is no problem, pay attention to that you don't won't that it struggles with your air flow ....

Nafjhy does a custom mount for the 1283 series inc DK. And not expensive either. I plan on getting one
