Which video card to use?

Thread Starter
Ok, Im in a bit of a conflict with myself.

I have
  • 9800gtx
  • 9800gx2
  • gtx285

The 285 is going in my gaming rig, but Im revamping my sig rig and wondered what card would be worth it.

I bought a 500w pc power and cooling PSU for the 9800gtx, but then I bought a 9800gx2 lol and want to use it.

Or I could build a whole other computer and use the gx2 in that.

Well...?

i would just use the 500w psu and toss the gx2 or the 285 in your gaming rig to be honest.

The gaming rig has its own PSU: 650w Seasonic X-650w.

Is the gx2 faster than the 285?

running the gx2 means SLI correct? If the choice is between sli and non sli and the performance is almost the same I would always go with non sli.

GX2 gets higher max and average frames (slightly) while the gtx285 gets much, much higher min frame rates.

Yes and then no, the gx2 has two gpus on the same card while the other 9800 has only one. The gx2 is more powerful than the 9800 probably by around 40% due to old scaling. I would still always use the 9800gx2 over the 9800. Very few games will u see less performance by the gx2 over the 9800, mostly very old games not coded for sli. The 285 u have is much more powerful than both the 9800 and the gx2.
