Hi,

I've got a problem. When I run my processor @ 3 ghz (originaly its 3ghz) my system freezes. I need to underclock my processor to 2.6 ghz to make it work.

Does anyone know any solution for my problem? Whould be a big help.

Welcome to the Forums Hansie,

I would turn the system off, remove the power supply cord and open the case. Then I would remove the CMOS battery and push the power button three or four times (this will release the energy stil in capacitors but be sure that you HAVE removed the power cord).

Replace the battery and cord. Restart the system. Enter the BIOS and change the date, save settings (no other changes) and enter Windows.

Test for stabilty again. Can you repeat the freezes? If the system still freezes then you would do well to first test the DRAM with Memtest86.

Download the Memtest86 ISO image from here:

http://www.memtest86.com/#download0

The create a cd from the image and set your bios to boot from the CD. Put the Memtest CD in and boot from it.

Does it pass two full sets of tests?

Heard that before......could it be because of the heat-sin/fan?

Are you using the retail stock cooler? If so, make sure that all 4 pins are pushed-in to make good contact with the CPU. Make sure the pins are in the "lock" position and engage once they're pushed-in.

Did you follow my instructions with battery removal and default settings? Can you give repetitive specifics with regards to when the freeze occurs? What are you doing when it freezes.

I do nothing, I can't do nothing.

I just boot my pc and it freezes when I reach my desktop. Sometimes I don't even make it to the desktop. It's not windows thats corrupted because I formatted my pc 3 days ago. Could it be my motherboard that's broken?

Did you go into your bios and set default values? Then reboot?

I actually have gotten this before, and I'm pretty stable. Try unplugging your internet/ethernet cord. It worked for me.

Anyway, what are your temps? Does MBM5 come up fast enough to detect temps, or do you not get that far?
