Extremely Poor 5870 Bench Performance

The Problem I'm having is my passmark scores are terrible especially on the GFX its 1000 less then what passmark website shows the avg for a 5870 is. I have the latest Catalyst drivers installed and DX10 I really dont understand what the problem could be. The clock is even oc'd using ATI overdrive to 900/1300 but the current values displays strange, shows my GPU clock is 400 and the memory is 1300. I don't know about the rest of the scores, the CPU seems like what it should be.

I've noticed in COD4 @ 1920x1080 with no AA and everything else full the frames drop quite a bit, is this normal?

I'm running the card on a 32inch lcd tv using the hdmi port on the card, donno if that makes any difference

It's normal for the GPU core to downclock itself to 400mhz when not doing 3d tasks. Once you start benchmarking or gaming you should see that 400 raise, and stay at 900, until you are done with the 3d applications.

The 2d scores are likely to be low because it's downclocked to 157/300. If you force it to run 3d clocks at all times, I'm sure the score would be a *lot* higher. I've never tried to do this but I imagine it's possible, and may be what others have done who's scores you're looking at.

Also, 1300 memory may be too high, and error correction may be kicking in. Try it again at like 1240 and see if the score goes up.

I've played around with that benchmark suite a bunch of times. It's a little flaky, I'd concern myself more with games and regular 3d benchies than PMPT.

Also, make sure you're running the 64-bit version, cause it makes a big difference in scores and all the baselines of high-end systems are done using 64-bit OS.

Nobody's scores in particular I just went to the passmark website and they have bench scores for the various bits of kit.

Surely 1000 must be making a difference to the performance I'm supposed to be seeing in this card.
yes I'm using the 64bit version of the program
