Corsair H50 on an AM3 Motherboard Back Bracket HElp - Page 2

I removed the original mobo backing plate and used the am3 one in the pack. The screws should work properly.

And the Thermal interface material (TIM) that comes on the H50 is shin etsu, its a very good TIM.

And for you fan question; this might help with the answer...

no you don't need to put on any thermal paste. the h50 already comes with quality pre-applied thermal paste

No you don't, the tim is already applied. It is the grey tape-ish looking stuff on the face of the copper plate. that is the shin etsu TIM.

remove the original AMD backplate and use Corsairs.

at least with my gigabyte, the screw thread pitch for the H50 does not work with the original backplate.

Anyone have the coarse thread screws for mounting the pump and the retention ring for the corsair h50? I'm looking to buy them because the newer kits only have the fine thread. I'm looking to use the stock amd backplate and that isn't possible with the finethread ones included. I'm willing to pay shipping and for the screws if anyone has them just sitting around.

thanks

This. I have a Gigabyte AM3, used the Corsair backplate and stuck with the stock TIM. As others said, it is very good.
