Best 5770 For Overclocking

Thread Starter
My question is, which is the best 5770 for overclocking?

Im looking at a XFX 5770 or MSI 5770. Which ones run the coolest and are good for overclocking. Any other suggestions are welcome.

I don't care if the card if REF or NON REF

The Cpu will be a Phenom II X4 955/965 - It depends on what combos newegg has later this month.

Ram will be Crucial Ballistix - OC to DDR3 1600.

Mobo is To be decided.

I plan to Crossfire.

I was going to go with a i5 750 / p55, except I learned that Crossfire is only x8 x8 instead of x16 x16 across the entire chipset. And the fact that Sata 6.0 and USB 3.0 steal bandwidth from PCI-E slots.

Please Correct me if i'm wrong on this.

Thanks in Advance

MSI Hawk.

I would pick the MSI Hawk. Runs the coolest and it has voltage control if I remember correctly. Should reach 1 GHz core easy.

Do NOT get a vapor-x. Sapphire cheaped out the PCB and lost voltage control with it.

All the Juniper XT's overclock well, extreme overclocks can be reached with something like MSi's solution. I've been happy with mine but I don't push them to the edge anymore, 945-965 core was about the most I could go, and I have a well ventilated case.

Although the difference between a 925Core overclock and a 990Core overclock in games isn't much from what i have seen.

On the MSI, is the Fan Direction a Problem. I dont really like the idea of the card blowing Exhaust air into the case.

Everybody says go with the msi hawk but I'm really happy with the saphire reference card.
957/1348 using ati auto tune. Using msi afterburner it will do 1000/1400 no problem.

Do you have the black PCB one? Because if so you are lucky. Sapphire is no longer selling that one by the looks of the newegg selection.
