[HELP] Overclocking E3300

Thread Starter
hello, this is the first time am doing overclock, i have a little basic knowledge, i try to set everything right and still cannot get it into windows

heres what i have:

Gigabyte p45 ddr2 mobo
E3300
G skill ddr2 800
H50 cooler

current goal:

set E3300 to 4.0
temp must not pass 65C on load

if first goal fails, goal#2

set E3300 to 3.8
temp must not pass 65C on load

i have a friend done this for me before but doing it myself is just too hard, i think am missing some knowledge here and there too

Bio settings i set myself:

cpu ratios 12x
fine clocking 0.5x
FSB 320mhz

performance enchant - Turbo
Frequency latch - 400mhz
system memory multiplier - 2.66D
memory frequency 800 - 853

CPU Vcore - 1.5V
Dram voltage - 1.9v

this is the stuff i mess around with, other specs are on auto or default

First off... have you read any guides on OCing? You should definitely read some guides first before attempting this.

Seem's like you have SOME knowledge of what you're doing... so I would suggest bumping up your vcore. Find out what your max vcore is first. Can you boot into windows with stock clocks?

i can boot to windows with stock specs, its just that the mobo resits itself when i did something wrong, i dont have any idea what am doing wrong, do i also have to higher the other voltages stated in the Bio?

1.5V for CPU vcore is way too high. I'd imagine that chip, being a rebadged/neutered E5200 to max at about 4GHZ with 1.40v.

What's your stock VID anyways?

am just trying to see with max voltage (1.5 = max for me) if i can get to 4.0 and i will slowly decrease it after every test i run, am sure the h50 will cool pretty good

also what is a stock VID?

VID.. Your CPU's voltage at stock clocks.

Oh and..
Turns speedstep off. :3

the VID is about 1.375 @ 2.5ghz

can i increase the FBS and decrease the CPU ratios to make cpu take less voltage to run at better speed? basicly working the mobo harder

Ouch. That's what I dislike about budget chips. Not much room to improve. Well at 1.5v, you're practically pumping more volt... oh wait.

VID Voltage Range0.8500V – 1.3625V

Wow. CPU lottery? You lost. D:

oh am sorry i looked at the wrong voltage, the stock voltage for cpu is 1.2875, well i still pretty much lost, but anyway the h50 will do a good job in cooling, thats why i can put higher temps on it

so is there anything i am doing wrong with the specs/volt in the Bios?
