The human eye see's lag with frames below 30 fps, that is why films make them at 30fps, because that is the lowest the human eye will not see lag.

On the other hang, human eyes can not see frames above 70 fps. So that means all you people running at like 120 fps, you're not seeing a difference than a 70 fps, so turn up eye candy!!

Lastly, still not revelant, but human eyes can not see anything faster than 8ms. So monitors that are like 2ms, human eye can detect the difference between that and 8ms.

All scientific, just google it.
movies are played below 30 FPS (sometimes down to 24 FPS) and appear smooth because of motion blur. if you don't have motion blur on, then you need more than 30 FPS to make it smooth.

as for the response time of monitors, it's not necessarily relevant to what the human eye can detect. 3ms monitors "ghost" and have image tear MUCH MUCH less than even an 8ms monitor, so they do help a lot.

but back on topic, i don't even know why there are debates on a new video card's speed before it's even released. i'm mean c'mon.... wait until the retail product is out, then see what it does. other wise you get people saying 10% faster all the way to 200% faster... just be patient and wait for some hard results to lay down the facts...

Well the twice as fast comment was based off of the 3D Mark 05 score of 13,000 (which I guess we can now lay to rest as false) and the fact that it WAS going to have 32 pixel pipelines and a 700+ MHz core clock, now that it is only 24 pixel pipelines and 655MHz core.....

It's only clocked a little higher than the 7800GTX 512, what, you actually thought it was going to be 2 times faster than the GTX 512?
Not to sound like an ass or anything, but get real.

No, I said this considering we all thought it was going to have 32 pipelines.

I knew Nvidia wouldn't put 32 pipes in the 7900GTX, and it seemed pretty unlikely that they would have. And it was confirmed that the 7900GT and GTX only had 24 pixel pipelines quite a while ago...

I agree

And for those of you still going on about how the 7900GTX will "easily beat" the x1900xtx, think about what you just said...knowing the 7900GTX is only 10% faster than the 7800GTX 512mb, the x1900xtx is still supposed to keep the performance crown.

My wife's CRT has a refresh at 1024 X 768 of 100Hz. She is a graphics artist and claims she sees the difference (like I"m going to argue with her ) but personally I can not see the difference.

Between 75Hz and 85, yes I see a difference but not between 85 and 100Hz. So for me it is more that my eyes can't keep up.
