Getting a 3.73 GHz Intel

Thread Starter
Hi guys im quite new to the high end of gaming so Id like to ask a few questions. First my comp setup is like this: cpu- intel pentiumEE 3.73 ghz, Mainboard- ASUS P5WND2-E Premium, and graphics card- ATI X1900XT. How good is this comp?

2nd: how much do you think I can overclock a 3.73ghz Intel chip to safely using a Bigwater SE as liquid coolant?

Thx for the help!

For a gaming rig, I would reccomend an AMD processor, as they tend to be better for gaming. Intels are better at audio/video encoding and such. Other than that, it looks like a great rig.

Not to sound too mean but...... You've got a $1000.00 processor and a $600.00 video card and you ask "how good is this comp?"

As per your question. That chip being a 65 nanometer Presler core with water I'd say 5 Ghz. is not out of the question.

Water?

(300x14) 4.2ghz easy. Most common on water.

Phase-Change: (400x14) 5.6ghz easy.

If you don't have the 3.73ghz CPU yet, the best choice right now would be a Presler Extreme Edition. That one would be able to do 5.1ghz on water (300x17) easy. Just like mentioned above.

That is changing now. It changed ever since Intel started releasing tons of new technologies in their department. 64-bit, 65 nm technology, dual cores to match up the X2's by AMD, etc. It seems a matter of preference nowadays.

@Cheese: Nice system, btw. I guess you're loaded.

@Nasgul: Ooohh... Fugger... now that's a crazy overclocker right there!

Phase change is an extreme cooling method that invloves a chemical reaction. Temps usually range between -40 C and -10 C.
phase chang is a type of cooling that uses a liquid gas and when it changes from a liquid to a gas*aka* "phase change" it drops temps like crazy, around -30+ ..... lol in a nutshell....

and from what you have been sayin that IS the extreme edition....

It's actually a Prescott core.

If you have the 955, your CPU runs at 3.46GHz stock.

You should still be able to hit 4GHz with it.
