Cooling help needed!

Ok, I post a picture, and you look for something wrong. If nothing seems wrong, consider that my CPU temp is up at 66 C, and thats before I start gaming!
And don't suggest that I fill the AGP port.....

The contact with the cpu looks a bit off, you might want to try reseating, but you do have a intel, so expect temps to be a bit higher...

remount your HS/F and apply some better thermal paste, or just apply the stuff you already have better.

i'd put it down to the seating. You overclocking it at all? What voltage is running? How does it run with the side off?

This is going to seem like a dumb question...as I am sure that you did...however, have you checked the seating of the heatsink on the CPU...and also...did you use any sort of thermal compound??

I used the stuff that came with the Big Typhoon, is it el cheapo? It runs alot cooler with the side off, right now I'm down to 55 C. Would another case fan help? It was warm before I OCed too, temps haven't risen too much after the OC either. Voltage is as low as possible, because of temp.
Yes, the case fan is pushing air in, it seems to help, but adding a fan blowing air out would help more I guess.

I'm buying some RAM soon, so I might throw some Arctic pasta in with it, if that seems to be the prob.

1: Check the seating of the heat sink on the chip, and repaste with AS5. Use a SMALL dab, about the size of a pea. Make sure the heat sink is screwed down nice and tight.

2: Switch your rear fan to blow out not in, it will help with over all case air flow.

3: Move the IDE cables out of the way in the front so air is no blocked from getting to the CPU.

Holy Crap! I was using some crappy thermal paste from my previous fan! I have no idea why I didn't change it.... the fan way also slightly loose, so it had to be tightened.

Anyway, at idle I'm down in 34-38 C! Just by using the paste that came with the Big Typhoon and tightening. I'll fix the case fans tommorow and see how it runs with the side panel on.

Thx for the help!

no problem, just curious, how much Thermal paste did you use and how thick was it spread.
