Best PSU for $150? - Page 2

They actually took dual rail out of the newest ATX spec. SO, get a single rail...cause usually it's from the same source anyways. Unless the PSU is just plain better. LIke the s12 600.

The OCZ Powerstream 520 is a long time proven psu for a reason, because its
passed the test for compatability and quality for quite a while.
If it ain't broken, dont fix it.
If you get a DFI mobo, there are none better!

Well, thing is, the latest cards, need 24A's on the 12V Rail to run.
Even if its Overrated, itll atleast need 20 - 22A, right? So how can we run the Card on a 12V Rail with 15A's or even 18A's?
That was my biggest concern..
Thats why i was leaning over to the OCZ.
How about the NeoHE with the Triple 17A rails?

What about the hiper type-r 580w? 119 dollars at xoxide, and it looks good, and performs well too.

well the NeoHe's are pretty decent psus... but there have been several reports of them not working with Asus boards. I believe the issue was resolved with a new psu revision... so if you buy one you should stick to a vendor who moves a lot of them and will have newer stock.

as far as your comments on not looking too favorably on a psu w/ 18-20a 12v rails... what you're forgetting is that 2 12v rails that can supply 18a each is similar to a single 12v rail that can supply 36a. the dual rals are just more stable. And with your logic about not wanting a dual rail psu w/ only 18a... why would you even be looking at the NeoHe? it only has 17a on each rail.

furthermore, you don't really need tripple or quad rails. I could see some benefit if you had a server w/ dual cpus... but a single cpu system just won't really see the benefit from more than dual 12v rails.
