before we start heres one quick shot of the front o/i headers. I'm never going to use esata or firewire, at least not soon anyway so theyve gone to keep things spacious.
also all the spare psu cables are sutffed behind the psu atm until i cut them off.

Onto the dirty secrets...

You might have noticed the bubbles on the paint during the priming. I thought this wouldn't be a problem and I'd be able to sand it flat and carry on. After lots of curse words, money spent on paint and sore hands from sanding I managed to get the surfaces acceptable but in most case that meant sanding down to the bare metal and then sanding as best I could. Painting, sanding the edges, more paint, more sanding, more paint, more sanding. It took bloody ages and it still annoys me because I know they're there.

AND for some reason some of the paint has already started to scratch. I'll go over with a paintbrush then do some full-case clearcoats when I install the water loop back in.

Scrqatched the bottom when trying to install the hdd cage. REASSEMBLE WITH COMMON SENSE!!!!!!!

ou can see some small places where the paint bubbled and I had to go over it again in this..

but from further out its not noticeable enough to cry about/

The rear side panel desperately needs some attention.

Yet another spot where i messed up. This was one was compounded by spraying with tape still down which created a ridge that needed sanding.

Problems
So the things that are annoying me most other than the blemishes in the paint are the tooless drivebay clips. I managed to get the in but I think I put the white cylinders in the wrong way so the pins wouldnt retract. As a result I've butchered the case. I've read in the HAF thread many tips but there must be some padded tool that is ideal to use or perhaps a simple technique that doesn't require hands with the strength of ten men.
ANY help with this problem would be great.

The other annoyance is how poor my sleeving job was when I did it last year. I spent £35 odd on MDPC white sleeving only to make a hash job of it. I've gor enough sata sleeve to redo them but I really hate that I didn;t do an incredible job first time!

Here's the picture nils drew me last christmas along with the sleeve and spare psu wire.

Hi blue and thanks for posting the build i enjoyed reading through it.Only thing i know of to make them come off easier is its a must to have them disengaged before removal, much easier that way.I changed out mine from a cosmos 1000 to the haf just to make it a little diffrent but i found out they are so much easier if there not engaged. +1 for sharing the thread.

Today an old woman at a roundabout started to go so I edged forwards whilst looking to see if it was clear only to bump into her after she backed out at the last minute.
She took me details but her car was fine. Mine however has a slight fender bender which I'll need to pay for, along with any costs for resitting exams.

ATM I'm just asking my dad to pick up 1 small item every few days from maplins as his school is right down the road. So far, Heatshrink, Thermal paste, zipties etc.

Hopefully applying for legoland though so hoping for some cash input.

Hey blue.

I had same problem with tooless drive clips. Best way I have found to remove is to use a small flat head screw driver to pry left hand edge up just enough so that it slips over the catch, and then slide the catch to the left....I can't tell you how many bleeding knuckles i got the first few times I tried to remove them and install them following a youtube guide that relied on brute force (i swear the guy must have gorrila hands...lol). Installation is essentially the reverse, I think if you gently pry with screw driver again you should minimise the chance of scratching you paint (nice job on that btw). Again, my first time saw me scratch all my hard effort at a really smooth paint job, and even though I could cover the chips with paint you (read I) could still see that it had been damaged.

Yeah, when I painted it black i somewhat mangled the retainers and chipped the clips and now that I've had to take them out again (especially as they werestuck "engaged") it's going to take some patient work with pliers and a hammr to flatten them out to a useable condition again. Might try a flat head covered in toilet paper or a cloth rag soas not to scratch. I'll see how it goes.

I've been trying to think of a name for the computer as blue-cat isn't really appropriate and Tetris is more then idea than the name then again... I don't like it when people refer to their PCs as almost like pets or people so it may remain namless. dilemmas.

I went to screwfix to get some more screws to mount my radiators but they didn't have them in stock so I need to go back tomorrow. Whilst trying to make the mounting holes in my dual rad larger I punctured a water vessel or two with the power drill. Going to haf to throw some glue in there and see how it goes, fingers crossed it'll live as I want to mount it up front. When they come I'll have another overhaul of the PSU.

Just got a little cash-flow from ebay so I'm buying a full cover card for my 4850 (ONLY £30 INCL POSTAGE!!!) and then I'll reconnect the loop.

I'm thinking of getting/making an orange top out of acrylic or something to replace the black

YES/NO?
