there is a windows scheduler program
To open Scheduled Tasks, click Start, click All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks

try looking there and you will probably see a disk scan or something
otherwise you have an ERROR
and it sucks
and id just reinstall windoes
it would be like the 8th time in 3 months

I agree...problems like this do not always go away easy. Format and re-stall before you start to have more problems. Right now you still have the ablity to back up any data you don't want to lose.

When the time comes for me to defragment...I never just defrag my machine. I format and defrag after I am done updating and installing. I do this about once every three months.

I can go from no operating system to playing Quake4 in about two hours...but I only have two 40 gig SATA's in a Raid 0 to format.
