Higher capacity only translates in better write speeds, read stays the same.

Your drive is just fine. Keep it, use it, enjoy the speed because you won't see a big difference between SSD drives in real world usage.
Does crucial advertise their random 4k random speeds?

No idea. But I know a lot of people fall for the sequential speeds marketing trick. And when I bought my Crucial C300 I didn't even look at speeds. I just looked at reviews and bought coz everyone recommended it Now I do the same and recommend m4 to whoever is in the market.

Ok. Darn it I'm sad because I bought the wrong drive.

By the way, GMan, I was thinking it would be a good idea to tell everyone on the front page about drivers for both Intel and AMD boards since they always yield better performance:

I will try and highlight the importance... although there is some form of elegance only using the built-in Microsoft driver, it's obviously not the best for raw speed.

Yep, 4k and random read/write is important to the "feel" of speed, sequential speed is important when moving around large files only.

I've added these links and others to the second post, and updated the first post.

Cheers

Great! Coz I was getting kinda tired telling everyone one by one to install SATA drivers

By the way, for those really interested running on Marvell controller, they can get the latest one here: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/marvell.htm

On the other hand, maybe it's a good thing there is no link to Marvell drivers on the front page. People will finally stop using it for good!

Thx for the link. Will update these when I get home tonight and perhaps reach even higher numbers.

your 4k read and write are slightly low.
