So Sean Webster is only joking when he said speeds will reach the roof when compression is enabled because the software is tricked?

This is my opinion, maybe not the truth.

As a software engineer, I can't see anything that could improve ssd speed with enabling filesystem compression. But I'm curious to see arguments.

If you copy compressed data on a compressed drive (jpg, avi, zip, rar, ...), you will just have useless cpu overhead (or drive chip overhead if it is compression capable).

So that means compression is better left at disabled?

Like I said scores go through the roof, but it is only a *bug* in the benchmark. When you have file compression enabled your scores get thrown out of whack with what is impossible to even pass through SATA 6Gb/s. lol

Got it. But you prefer file compression to be left disabled?

Ehh, I never have it enabled. But I just tested it and it should compress the data on my drive right? Well...it expanded it on my Plextor with all my images on it! I somehow gained an additional 500MB used space! lol I may need to test it over, but that was weird I thought.
