AS SSD Benchmark thread - Page 208

For 256GB M4 owners it was ~0.200 before 0009 firmware (ie: same as 128GB etc). With that firmware it jumped up to ~0.4+. Now with the latest 000f it's jumped up to ~0.5+

It's freaking pathetic and I really don't understand why people aren't raising the question anywhere really. This is THE slowest SSD drive out there now in-regards to write access, this includes previous Gen drives.

add: and of course don't forget that we missed out on the increased 4k-64thds increase that the 128GB drive got. Of course if you look into it more, it peaks at around 8 queue depth so in real life you won't notice it.

Just to confirm, you're saying that the 128GB M4's are not affected by your negative impact observation on the 256GB?

I've been watching here for someone to update their M4 to 000F.

I didn't update mine as I don't see the need to after reading about the changes between 0309 and 000F on Crucial's site.

Changes between version 0309 and 000F include the following changes:
•Improved compatibility with certain SAS expanders and peripheral RAID cards. I don't use RAID
•Improved throughput stability under extremely heavy workloads. Not sure on this one.
•Improved data protection in the event of unexpected, asynchronous power loss. Not needed if you have a UPS.
This firmware update is recommended for all drives currently in the field if the end user is experiencing any of these symptoms.

does it effect what you use your system for?

I cant think fast enough to keep pace with a subtitled movie let alone realize a .2 ms difference in access times...

Hey, so I have two 180 GB Intel 520s set up in RAID0 and I just want to know if the benchmarks I am getting seem normal or not. I am not sure what the "average" numbers are for two SSDs in RAID.

seems a little slow to me but I'm not sure what 120gb drives should run, that's not much better then my single 256gb and the 4K R/W are lower
