AS SSD Benchmark thread - Page 232

Haven't been to this thread a while and see a mess!

People with msahci drivers, start opening your eyes and reading the OP first before complaining about low speeds.

Install the storage drivers for better performance (Intel RST or AMD).

And yes, Marvell ports SUCK, so use Intel Sata 3GB/s ports instead if you don't have native Intel 6GB/s ones on the board. I'd suggest disabling Marvell in BIOS completely so that not to waste precious boot time seconds.

Good luck thumb.gif

After fighting with my junky Marvel 91xx SATA 3 chipset, I finally got windows to boot after flashing the Marvell chip and installing new drivers.

Now, I have interesting results. Scores are better running SATA 3 over 2, but depending on the driver version I use I get this:

Driver 1019 WHQL:

501

Driver 1020:

501

So there's a HUGE drop-off moving from 1019 to 1020 in Sequential Read 370 to 220...

But the overall score is better on 1020....649 vs 597.

So should I stick with driver 1020?

I would use the 1020 personally. The Seq speeds are still fast enough to transfer anything (HDD RAID0 or another SSD) and they don't matter anywhere else, while giving you slightly faster speeds elsewhere. You'd need to use Anvil to confirm exactly where and how much the 4k increases depending on the QD.

Though this is AS-SSD thread you could also check CDM to confirm what 512K shows between the 2 (or again just use Anvil).

Slee_Stack: your vertex 4 seems to be running slow compared to other vertex 4's out there. have you tried installing the intel rts driver? i'll post my as ssd results switching from msahci to intel rst when i get home.

I'm running a ~2y.o. AMD based board. I'm stuck with the Marvel 91xx SATA chip.

Admittedly, this might be the time to cross that Ivy Bridge...
