What SSD is this? Why is it so fast?

It's several ssds in raid0 with a decent LSI raid card...lotsa $$ involved for sure. wink.gif

It was indeed. 8 x HyperX 120GB running in raid 0 on and LSI 9271-8i

$$ pretty high, I guess approx $1.3k total setup

Probably get it cheaper now with SSD prices dropping, but the lsi card costs a big hit!

In this instance, worth it, it's literally a 'willy wave' system.

In my future builds, I'll probably stick to mobo controllers.

Great thing about having a nice LSI card is the inherent 'future-proofing' it provides...you can migrate it to any future rig as well as being able to upgrade it's ssds as well. I seriously considered getting the entry-level LSI 9211-4i along with 2 more of the world's fastest 64GB SSDs but in the end I really couldn't justify the expenditure vs the not so noticeable real-world difference in performance beyond just the sweet benchies. rolleyes.gif In the end, I gotta stay true to my rig/moto (and budget....lol), "best bang for the buck".
