Yes, the 2.1 is the newest firmware update. As far as it not recognizing your drive, did you right click and run as admin? (Right click the "ssdupdate.exe" and select run as administrator.) I've read where people are having problems with the firmware update but that seems to be so far limited to Gigabyte motherboards.
Hope this might help you,
John

Sweet! It recognized the drive, thanks man. Ended up with the same ol' score though, only 325, lacking when compared to your score. I wonder if it's the board? Or maybe the OC plays a role with the different QPI speeds?

So this is an excellent comparison...
Same brand, same firmware, same X58 with ICH10R SATA controller -- Same drivers (Intel RST 9.6 I assume)
So the biggest difference is that one is a 120GB and the other a 60GB... half the NAND chips, or half size NAND chips...
So we can assume that 60GB drives are slower then 120GB drives.
Seems to effect the writes, chopping them in half.

actuallly my friends 60GB is faster and scored higher then me. that is why i asked if i should of installed fresh W7 instead of from system image.

it could be any tweaks in the reg or the drive settings also, those are the non measured variables imo

How can I improve my reads and write on my SSD? I'm either thinking of getting another for a raid 0 or save up for a Vertex 2... I have around 9 gigs left.

Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC064MAG-1G1 2.5" 64GB SATA III

I just got this to replace my INTEL V25 X2 RAID0.

Fastest single 64GB SSD ! No updating of firmware required. I guess I made the right choice over the OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G.

Damn that score looks horrible. My parents' Agility 30GB gets a total score of 171.

You might want to enable AHCI (if possible) and flash to firmware 1.6.

Hmm, I have ACHI enabled, actually reinstalled win-7 after realizing I did my first install with it disabled. I don't think this mobo will run at sata 1.5, but I could be wrong. If it is, that could explain the slower speeds. Is there any advice you could give me? Did you change your page file, ect? I've gone through a guide, I think on the g-skill forums. Simple stuff really, just a couple registry changes. Do you think it matters if antivirus software is on?

I ran through a few other optimizing guides, got it up to 338, which is still a far fetch from your speed. Oops, realized antivirus is still on, don't want to run it anymore for a bit, scared of the "you ran benchmarks too much and now your drive is slow" thing

Try AHCI mode for 64-Thrd improvements, but since it's only a 32GB it might not be possible to make it much faster on the standard 4k and such... ideally your 4k reads would be closer to 28 or so but it varies... how old is the drive? try running Wiper...

+1... also try Wiper... TRIM is supposed to keep the NAND clean but you never know.

Well it will benchmark quicker then Sandforce... Sandforce doesn't benchmark very well... but yeah I'll have a look through your scores and re-edit the top 3 list. Not quite, but very impressive result.

I flashed to 1.6 and I'm still getting bad reads and write. This is less than 30 days old. I might return this and invest in a G skill or Vertex 2... I'll try your suggestions before returning it though. Thanks for the help.

GAH~! Even with AHCI enabled I'm practically getting the same results.. How do I know AHCI was successfully enabled? Sigh I guess I should look into returning and see what else MC has.. I'm too impatient to wait for shipping ...
