how much vcore is safe?

right now i have it set to 1.42 in bios (reads 1.46 in power screen in the bios) speedfan also shows 1.46

232 x 11 - 2.552ghz i try 233 and its not stable.(i put ram on a divider so i know its not that) I'm kinda afraid to give it more vcore, altho my watercooling kit should be here tomorrow. thoughts?

232fsb x 11
vcore 1.46v
HTT 4x
pcie 100mhz
pci 33mhz

here are my shots of cpuz

You should be fine upping the vcore. Youll notice an increase in your cpu temps with the added voltage, but with proper cooling (be it or air water), temps shouldnt be an issue. Anything over 50C would be a cause for concern, but again, the cooling should ensure it wont. By the way, how much are you thinking of increasing?

EDIT: If its not stable, try lowering your HTT to 3x. That should help.

I'm not sure, I'd rather not kill my 500.00 chip

Hence me asking whats a safe vcore. If i do HTT 3x wouldnt that be 3x232 = 696? I thought anything under 1k was ok.

Thanks in advance, I'm still a noob at this

I had mine at 2.6 for a while with a 1.5 vcore, however I couldnt get it 100% stable Anyway, you shoud be fine going up to 1.5 which, if I am not mistaken, is the max for that motherboard.

Supposedly the Max for the Mobo is 1.5 in bios. The scary part is im at 1.42 in the bios and its showing 1.47 (in other screen in the bios)
I'd hate to try 1.5 and it gives me 1.7 LOL

Ya, it does go a bit over what it says. If you put it under load it should drop back down to close to what you put. I think mine got as high as 1.6. Its not going to fry you chip. I know a lot of people were complaining that this motherboard only goes to 1.5 v!.

I have an A8N board with a 4400+ and a nice watercooling setup.

Tell me what numbers you want me to try.. and how to change them. I need somebody to tell me what to change so I don't fry anything.. but I'm willing to be a guinea pig

ok I bumped up to 1.45 in the bios (1.48 indicated in speedfan) and its running at 2.6ghz still not 100% stable. I dont wanna go higher yet, cause i still didnt install my wc....Now im really starting to wonder if its my PS.

here is a chart of it running for about 30mins no load.....vcore is all over the place. New PS OCZ Mod 520w should i exchange it for another one?

Teeze- check out the sticky thats how i learned to do it..... =)

You should be able to handle 1.55 with the stock heatsink and about 1.65 AT LEAST with good water cooling, I know the Big Typhoon (I have one, pandapimp does and so does Ninja_Boy, they both have AMD X2's but I have a Pentium 4) can handle safely about 1.7vcore on either my P4 or their Athlon X2's so your water should outperform a Big Typhoon right? Unless its a cheapy kit, I don't really know about the H20 im afraid.

My first attempt at overclocking:

After figuring out what does what to what when I change what... I achieved my goal of 2.7, and I haven't crashed yet.

I bumped to the following:
250mh
1.425v
multiplierx11

Running that Prime95 test for about an hour I got up to 41-42C @ 2750mh

I think I can push farther
