F1ForFrags had never used pressure mod and he had this issue. Same with you I suppose.
I used the washer mod for my TRUE on my old 775 rig. I have never even considered using it on the venomous-x....

This is ridiculous, if Intel says don't exceed something, why did the engineers exceed it?

I would love to hear a response from the company!

Epic lulz in Ventrillo right now.
VenX doesn't use the old style TRUE mounting hardware. I don't see any mention of a washer being used in this case.

How do you know when you've hit the max pressure? Does the pressure knob stop turning?

I may loosen it a little.

No, he is speaking of the time I used a washer mod on my Ven X. Although it doesn't apply to other people having this problem.
My washer mod was only on there for a few days.

Remove the retention clip, that should fix temps and stop this being a problem.

It's 100% possible for 775 systems and I know that it was required for when you take the IHS off, I've done it on a few 775 CPUs for better temperatures.

Wait, so this is the stock venomous-x with the maximum pressure as intended by the factory, or after modifying it? Because that intel 60 lbs number likely is built to take twice that amount, it doesn't make a great deal of sense that the heatsink would harm the cpu with only marginally more pressure than is specified.

If you went out of your way to modify for more pressure, sorry to say, but it's your own damn fault. Just because thermalright figured they could go slightly over intel specs and still be okay doesn't mean you can increase it further still with no ill effects.

edit: what is your picture? It appears to be a water cooling heatsink, yet the venomous is an air cooler. Are you saying blocks with a contact patch larger than the IHS will not fit after the X has been used?
