Zalman 9500 temps still high. Did I do anything wrong? - Page 2

My ambient temps are usually in the lower 70s and my max load creeps to 63 after 6 hours of dual Prime95 tests, but under "normal" load they are only about 58.....and I haven't put AS5 in yet (I will this weekend and see how much of a difference it makes after curing)

I wouldn't call a 55c load temp for a prescott "very high", as was mentioned, the throttling temp isn't until 66 or so on those cores.......but no reason not to want it lower......

Check the mounting, if you're like me, you were worried about overtightening the screw mounts on the heatsink. And the way it mounts onto the bracket is tricky........make sure the AS5 was applied correctly when you pull it off. You should be able to see how far it spread out. Clean both the heatsink and the CPU with Artic Silver cleaning compound and surfuce prep or cleaning alcohol.......dirt will foul your heat transfer.

Check your case airflow......make sure both the new fans are installed properly and running at proper speed........make sure all your wires are tucked, wraped, or somehow out of the path of air........

My room temp is 23 C. Temp Idle 47 C. My Temp Ambient (in my case) is 44 C, is it a lot?

I'd like to see with an aftermarket cooler your temps be around the low forty's. What are your load as thats what really matters. As long as you stay under 55 for safety its aall good. Preferably under 50c
