New build

Hi
This is the first time that I have been on this site and the first time I have considered overclocking I know nothing about it. My question is what components would you recommend for the computer I am planning to build and then overclock. It will be used mostly for gaming, games like Farcry. I already have a case, two hard drives (an 80 GB and a 120 GB) a DVD drive and a DVDRW. I also have a stick of pny 400mhz dimm ddr 1 gb ram but this could be replaced if its not good enough for overclocking. I’ve been looking at a Sapphire X1800 XT 512MB, I don’t know if this is suitable for over clocking though. I have a budget of £800 to get all the parts that I need this does not include any of the parts I already have or a monitor keyboard mouse I have these already. I’m hoping for an overclock to approx 3.8 GHz cpu.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

I've hit 4GHz with mine on a "cheap" £70 motherboard and Value Select RAM.

I must stress to you the importance of a decent PSU and cooling. I use Tagan for my PSU's and Arctic Cooling for my cooling. I'm only running a 600MHz stable overclock but as far as I'm concerned I paid £175 for a 4GHz Pentium 4!

You may want to just opt for a 7800 GT/GTX as the GTX is pretty much on par with the X1800XT performance wise..

if you have a lot of money to spend, then wait for the new 7900gtx to come out, that will play any games with ease according to the hype so far.

With the Intel Pentium D 920 ($250) people are getting 4.0Ghz on air with good motherboard and memory. With water 4.5+Ghz is easily possible.

(I don't know the UK price, or a UK website to get them at)
Get the P5WD2-E Premium Motherboard $220
Pentium D 920 $250
DDR2-667 RAM $85
7800GT $265
Raptor $135
SunBeam NUUO $85

Thats is about in your price range I think, although parts are probably going to be more expensive in England (smaller market)
