Lets discuss some builds.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout:_New_Vegas

Keep in mind that New vegas will have weapons/armor etc that will require strength checks and skills checks in order to use them properly, not having the stregth to use them will result in accuracy penalties, increasing by each point you have to little. weapons/armor Also require skill points to be a certain level to use properly. not meeting them also inflicts penalties.

that lists nearly all perks, some traits, and the skills.

Hardcore mode.

Trait- Built to destroy. +3 crit chance, +15% condition decay.

P 3
E 6
C 6
I 8
A 6
L 5

Tag skills will be Melee, Guns, Speech. I will put minor points into sneak, science, speech,(survival?).

Perks by level
(2) Intense training -strength (4) educated (6) comprehension (8) cowboy/super slam (10) Finesse (12) Silent running/cowboy/super slam (14) purifier (16) TAG - Sneak (18) silent running/cowboy/super slam (20) Ninja/Nerd rage (22) Ninja/Nerd rage (24) Life Giver (26) Stonewall (28) something (30) something

Basically ill use sneak around hoping to get my first shot off as a critical, guns for ranged encounters, along with some thown weapons and melee when they get close. Points in speech so i can have a somewhat decent chance at having a success on anything but the tough ones.

In New Vegas, this style of gameplay is called "Let it ride".

Here is how i play. No reloading unless i die. I dont exit out of terminals to reset my attempts, or exit to not break my bobby pin. Also no reloading if something doesnt go my way in a chat, or if i say the wrong thing and start a fight.

Hrm...I typically fire from the hip as far as character creation goes. My first character will likely be:

S: 7 (+1 point, and one from Agility)
P: 6 (+1)
E: 5
C: 5
I: 6 (+1)
A: 5 (-1, plus +1 from Agility)
L: 6 (+1, it's Vegas after all)

Traits: Wild Wasteland, Small Frame

No hardcore
None of that "Can't save all the time" nonsense either. I will make frequent saves, exit terminals, etc etc. It's a game not real life, after all.

I'm not getting the book. As teste said, I use the Vault for anything, but even then I just use it for backstory mostly.

I was wondering what you guys think about my situation. I'm a bit low on cash, saving for some things, but I have enough money (easily) to buy New Vegas. Now I have two options. I can either buy it on CD-WOW (trusted site for me) for 35 Euro, no extras or anything, or get the 50 Euro Steam copy, with a few items I don't care much about, the binoculars (which are kinda neat, I admit) and the preload.

With the CD-WOW copy there's the chance I won't be able to play until the 23rd (EU release on 22nd), but is the preload and binoculars from Steam really worth 15 bucks more? Would like your thoughts on this.

EDIT:
