I'm pretty sure I've successfully alt-tabbed a few times before... Unless I'm think of back when I used Vista.

I can do it if the game is using less than 650MB of ram.

I remember I had only minor issues and could alt-tab just fine.

THen I patched and it broke alt-tab.

That was back on XP though.

So in other words you can alt tab on the main menu?

Yeah, and up to 5 minutes into the wasteland. But once it passes about 650MB of ram used it just crashes on resume.

So much for apperciating [sic] the game.

lol it still has a permanent home in my harddrive. But I'm not gonna overlook it's flaws either.


That crashing has almost made me not want to play it before.

this happens to me A LOT. sometimes i can successfully alt-tab by going into the menu first before alt-tabbing. sometimes neither works.

and then yesterday i had this annoying thing not being able to go past leveling up. it would hang after i press OK. i traced the bug back to a mod (FOOK2) so i had to disable it first, went back to the game and killed the enemy needed to get the final experience point. it went smoothly after that, then i just re-enable the mod.

I'm playing through it now for the second time with FOOK2 and a couple other visual enhancement mods and it crashes alot, but if I keep trying it begins to work without crashing for a decent period of time after about the 3rd attempt.

I think the trick to not getting turned off playing through again is to bypass the dialoge and get out of the vault and get going. Once out and engaging in some decent battles, the game picks up from there. I missed alot fo the side quests and all of the DLC the first time through, so I have some new content to look forward to.

I'm really looking forward to NV and the improvments that will hopefully come with it.

I wonder how many have actually played the original Fallout: the 1st one.

Fortunately, the F3 keeps the spirit of the first one. In my opinion this is the most important thing. Technical problems and system requirements are not so significant.
