ASUS Xonar D1 7.1 vs. ASUS Xonar DX 7.1

I purchased the HT OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 recently. I'm very disappointed with it. The HT OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 sound card is making a hiss noise, especially at 100% volume. I've tried using another PCI slot, but the problem still exists.

I'm looking at purchasing the ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 or ASUS Xonar D1 7.1. I do not have any PCI-E x1 slots available. I'm going to have to use a PCI-E x16 slot for the ASUS Xonar DX 7.1. Should I purchase the D1 or DX? Is there even a difference besides the slot capability? I noticed there are no drivers available for download on the ASUS website for the D1.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

They are both the same card. (The DX even has a PCI-E X1 to PCI adapter on the card because it is technically a native PCI card.)

For which one to go with . . . it depends if you ever plan on going to a SLI set up. If you do then you should go with the D1 because you don't have an extra PCI-E X1 slot.

Edit: The DX does need an extra source of power. You have to plug a berg pin floppy power cable into the back of it. I think the card comes with a molex to berg adapter in the box. The reason for this is due to the PCI-E to PCI bridge on the card (It can't pass power through it just data.) I was also able to locate the D1 drivers on their website.

I didn't know it needed an extra source of power. +Rep for that. I'm going to purchase the D1. Thank you. Hopefully the hissing noise I'm experiencing is from the HT OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 sound card and not the PCI lane. >.<

Indeed, as above, they are exactly the same card, with the DX (PCI-Express version) requiring a floppy disk drive power connector. It mostly depends on your layout. I would have got the DX version but given the large size of my graphics card's cooling system, I only have access to one PCI slot, hence I got the D1. I guess it's better for cable clutter, too!
