bad scoring on the new 3D mark 06? - Page 2

I got 4050 at stock. The primary difference would be our cpu's. As 3dmark is more gpu than cpu intensive, and we have the same class of video card, that seems about right. I have yet to run cpu benches.

If you run the bench at default it uses the cpu tests which are very intensive. If you have a single core processor you will score much lower than with a dual. My firiend and I both have the same setup for the most part except he has a 3800+ dual core and I have a 3700+ he gets like 6k in 3dmark 2006 where I get like 5k his cpu just can out preforme mine in the tasks that the CPU looks for because its dual core. Now if we run gaming tests I out preform him by a small margin in games like FEAR, DOOM 3, Quake 4 and such because my single core is clocked higher than his duals and games only run on 1 thread so it doesnt matter there.

Look at 3dmark06 like this, its 3dmark2005 Dual Core Edition.

Exactly why I have a single core processor, I don't need the multitasking and I want the fastest gaming I can get.

That may be true for some games, but the truth is everything is going Dual core. It is the future. my 3dmark06 is 8201.
