Upgrading Ram: Need Answers and Advice: 2-2-2-x @2.8V - Page 2

if you get really good sticks they may. but the thing is that TCCD doesn't do tight timings and high frequencies at the same time. the only RAM you can be sure to get that kind of performance with is some BH-5... but since your mobo can't support enough voltage then TCCD would be the next best thing.

you may need to bump to like 2-3-3-6 or 2.5-3-2-5 it all depends on if you get good sticks or not. Mine are very good, as they will clock all the way to DDR580 at 2.5-3-3-7 and DDR640 at 2.5-4-4-8. like I said before I never tested how far they could go with 2-2-2-5 timings. I actually do have them on ebay at the moment as I just got some g.skill HZ's today. PM me if you want a link.

i'm not looking for very high frequencies, just around DDR466

UPDATE:
since no manufacture emailed me back, either because they don't care, don't know or don't want to reveal information that might compromise some sort of a competitive advantage…after more research I came to a conclusion.

The my best option came down to Corsair XMS TWINX2048-3500LLPRO 2GB Dual Channel RAM.
Here’s why: at 2.7v and only at 2.7V they offer 2-3-2-x timing all the way up 225MHz
With a 3200+ XP it will bring a 225x11= 2475 overclock.
And 255MHz @ 2.5-3-3-7

Any ram that offers 2-2-2-x timing has no more room to expand without increasing the voltage, or significantly loosing the timing.

O looks like someone needs some ocz el plats...hehe

Just so you know, the only number that really matters is the cas. Try it out in 3d mark, change the rest of the timings, loosen them up tighten them. Watch the miraculous outcome...<---sarcasm. The difference will amount to crap, and in real world aps (games) you'll be lucky if it gives or takes a fps or 2.

Anways, the el plats will do cas2 up to around 240mhz and 2.5 up to 270-280 depening on your luck with sticks and how clean and real your 2.8vdimm is.

I run mine at 2.8 @ cas2 - 237 on a divider. Take it that its cas2-3-3-10 on the whim that it worked for tomshardware, so it works for me.

inless you have to have the lights corsair 3500LLPro are a waste of money for several reasons. first, corsair is getting out of the high performance DDR business and as such their customer service as gone down the drain. second, that RAM is extremely overpriced. you can get RAM that uses the exact same IC's for almost half the price! it uses Infineon B die IC's and so does OCZ platinum DDR400 and g.skill DDR400. the g.skills will cost about 200 and the ocz's will be about 160 after rebate.

your just advertising your memory, you go from post to post and tell people they need OCZ EL platinum?

That’s terrible advice, your unbiased opinion about G.Skill, that memory can’t even run 2.5 cas at any speed, I think I’ll just stick with my Kingston…

Wow who wizzed in your fruity pebbles? You asked for suggestions and you get two worthwhile ones about memory that these 2 members have experience with and then you call them liars? What gives amigo? Next time do not ask and just buy what the hell you want and dont worry about if it is any good because you know everything there is to know about that product.

Just so you know, my Rev. 2's do DDR500 2-3-3-5 2T @ 2.85V. So as to your request that whatever you are going to stuff on that mobo of yours do DDR440 at 2-2-2-x, well the OCZ Plat Rev. 2 will and at your 2.8V. But dont buy it because you deserve that Kingston crap you have. Good day.

Post count just went up 1 for me too.

LOL

imagine this, you start a thread in which you ask for a recommendation for an AMD motherboard, and someone trolls along and gives you a part number for an Intel motherboard, so you spent the time reading his post and how great this motherboard is, then go do more research about it and find out the motherboard is meant for an intel, wouldn’t you go...***?!

if in my thread title I asked for a memory that has 2-2-2 timing why would anyone take the time to post about a memory that can achieve the best timing of 3-3-3…

Do you guys reply to threads just to get your post count up?

hey bud... before you go bashing on other people you need to do some research so you actually know what you're talking about!

so g.skill can't do CAS2.5 at any speed?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231032
why then is it rated at a CAS of 2? Why don't you tell me that?

I was merely trying to help you, but apparently the expertise of myself and many others who have been trying to help you have gone right over your head. If you would have read carefully my post. I stated the Corsair LLPro's were over priced and they used the same chip IC's as several other manufactures use and charge almost half. Including OCZ Platinum DDR400 and g.skill DDR400 (that I linked above)

ahh just another instance of you putting your foot in your mouth!

I've got some advice for you: you are entitled to your own opinions, but when you ask a question and other forum members try to help you don't mock them. Nobody here has given you 'bad' advice, everyone has tried to help the best they can. Maybe you think you know better... well then keep thinking that, stick w/ your Kingston and be happy in your ignorance!

look at the reviews on newegg.com its barely stable at cas 2, when overclocked they all run at cas 2.5 and 3, with the speeds I want I’ll have to run it at cas 3

and “rated†doesn’t mean anything, I can buy a bunch of generic value ram put pretty heat-sinks on it and “rate†them however I want so that they sell better. And when people come back to me and say that they are not getting the rated speeds, I’ll just tell them I rated them based on the motherboard that I tested them on.
