975x VRM mod

Thread Starter
do you think someone will offer a type of VRM adapter to use on current 975x motherboards, that will allow people to use with the much anticipated "Conroe" processors? wasnt this done with earlier intel processors?

That's upto the (ASUS) MoBo manufacturer.

And that's one of the reasons why I'm holding out on a (current) 975X chipset MoBo. I have a feeling that ASUS may revise their 975X chipset or Intel may release a 975XE, just like they did back in the 925 chispet days. Remember?

Poncho, an Intel employee from another forum has a Conroe CPU on a 975X MoBo by Intel which has been reworked for Conroe specifically, because he claims that the 965 chipset that will "officially" support Conroe, is not or doesn't feel as good as a 975X, but then again I'm not sure if the 975X that may or may not be release for Conroe will have the ICH8-R south-bridge.

In any case, I'll be waiting for a 985 chipset but not before I get my hands on a 960.

That's not a good sign if the chipset planned to be released side-by-side with Conroe, specifically for that chip, "doesn't feel good".

I wouldn't be suprised to see new versions of the 975 to handle the Conroe after it is released though.....
