Wait til I get my Flares . They should be here either today or early next week. The kit that I bought is $140, which is $50 cheaper than the cheapest kit of Dominator GT's on Newegg. Those Dominator GT's are specc'ed for Intel chips, meaning DDR3-2000 CL8 is not guaranteed with AMD chips. While it's true that Thuban procs have much improved IMC's, that still doesn't mean that it can reach the rated speeds of that kit.

Flares, on the other hand, are designed to run specifically with Thuban CPU's, meaning what they're rated at is what they'll run at with a 1090T (you'll probably need an 800-series chipset mobo for best results, though...Yeah, a Crosshair IV will do nicely ). Besides, there's a kit of Flares on Newegg that's rated at the same speed as the cheapest Dominator GT's (DDR3-2000) and carries the same price ($189.99), but actually runs with tighter timings (7-9-7-24 vs. 8-9-8-24). Here it is.

Yeah I went ahead with the flares, I just finished everything I needed to buy on newegg for my computer and im submitting my build tomorrow!!! I can't wait it's my first actual gaming computer, my 2 year old dell computer runs on a dual core and I consider it really fast computer and somewhat ok graphics ( has no graphics card) . Now i'm getting this computer I can only imagine its performance

Can you explain what timings mean? what do they do? what are good timings?

Here is a good writeup about memory timings. It's an old article written during the days of DDR1, so those timings that you see in the article are timings you will never see in this day and age. The fundamentals are the same, though. Instead of seeing timings like 2-2-2-5 with DDR1, you're seeing things like 9-9-9-24 or 7-9-7-24 with DDR3 now.

It's a little different for AMD systems than for Intel...Phenom II systems are real finicky with RAM. Modules rated to run at certain timings and speeds on Intel rigs are not guaranteed to run at those timings and speeds on AMD rigs. Hell, I had a kit of OCZ AMD Black Edition modules that were compatible with quad-core Phenom II's and 700-series chipset mobos, but wouldn't run worth a damn with my Thuban CPU and my 890FX mobo. Had to return them to Newegg.

But flares are specifically designed for 1090t/1055. and its so much cheaper than the dominators, and dominators are designed for i7?.. Corsair is a good company but so is gskill's RAM. Unless someone provides me evidence that dominators will perform better than flares. I was considering doms at first just because I was clueless. Im learning still tho >.>
