when my cpu was running super pi stably @2800 my max temps were 58C , that is bad im pretty sure, so when i clocked it down to 2700 mhz and am stabel and all that my max temps are 52C , now fo rsome reason i thought the temps you want to shootfor on amd's are 55C or below

you are lower than the recommended temps so you are fine- remember dual core runs hotter than single anyway. If you can keep the temps down a bit it is always good.

Those temps would still make me nervous even if it is a dual-core. Why are you doing such an overclock with stock cooling?

The max temps are NOT the max safe temps that you can run your processor everyday use. At those temps, your cpu wont last very long. Most recommended keeping your temps under 50*C, 55*C at the most. Yes dual cores give off more heat, but that doesn't mean they can take more heat than normal single core processors, after all, they are just two single core processors on one die (FX60 = 2 FX55s, X2's = 2 sandiego or venice cores). The extra heat is just one of the tradeoffs you get when running and overclocking a dual core processor.

Depending on your climate your temps are going to vary massively. I live in a hot sometimes dry sometimes humid place called Australia and even my stock 3000+ venice with a x2 4400 HSF installed still tuns at over 50c inside a reasonably well ventilated case. so I suppose CPU's in this country will not last as long as in say Canada. You can not run the AC unit 24\\7 just to keep your rigs cool enough, it just isnt viable. The AC units that some of these server companies are running are almost on par with say a chicken factory to combat the heat here. Full blown water cooled condensers and the like.
