Thread Starter
I have a nvidia 6800gs and it seems it has a alot in common performence wise with the more expensive gt version. Whats your opinion on which card is better value for money the 6800gs or gt taking into account performence etc.

Value? The GS. New GSs go for about $170 (PCIe) to $200 (AGP), and from what I've seen, the 6800GT goes for about $250. When you can get a 7800GT for $254 after rebate, the 6800GT seems like an unwise decision.

I believe the GS was meant to replace the 6800GT/Ultra until nVidia gets their new line out, to deliver good performance/price, but not take any sales away from the 7800GT.

yep 6800GS is the better buy. GS apparently overclocks much better than a 6800GT, which means even better with it's low price and great performance.

Mind you the I heard the AGP version of the 6800GS does not overclock well since it uses old technology whereas the pci-e uses newer manufacturing processes.

But, the AGP can unlock to 16/6, and the PCIe cannot. So it's a pretty even trade off.
