Testing Hardware

Hey Guys

Didnt know exactly where to put this topic but here goes anyway.

Ive got a lot of second hand hardware and i dont know whether any of it works or not.

What can I do to test if the hardware works short of sticking it in a computer. I would prefer to find a way to test if hardware works instead of sticking it in my $3000 comp

If you have a whole bunch of spare parts laying around, build another PC and test your parts in that.

Edit: And how did a rig with 1GB of RAM, a 3500+, and a 6800GT cost you 3 grand? I'd expect more in the $1200 range, plus monitor/keyboard/mouse.

well not really 3000

but it all adds up lol

CPU 300
MOBO 260
RAM 150
MONITOR 375
HARD DRIVES 250
CASE 150
VIDEO CARD 535
POWER SUPPLY 65
COOLING 200
SOUND CARD 50
MOUSE 85
KEYBOARD 100
SPEAKERS 100

2620

If you dont have drivers with the hardware, how do you know it works when you turn on the comp?

you can go to the websites download drives to floppy
you can also install linux so you wont have to pay for a OS just to test your hardware
