4 degrees on air!

Thread Starter
I need some seious help here. Im pretty sure my cpu tem sensor is misreporting on my AV8. Right now i have it overclocked to 2403mhz on air and its reading at 4-10 degrees c. Where is the temp sensor? when i took out my cpu to reseat it with a new hsf, it pulled the cpu out without disengaging the lock because of super sticky crap compound i used before. Now its resat in there with an arctic cooling freezer 64pro, lapped and AS5 compound.

im afraid to overclock now, since i dont know that i can report the temps right. Which sucks, cuz i changed CPU HSF to overclock!

right now my temp are as follows:

Ok try using another problem like everest home or speedfan. If they do the same thing, there is a temperature probe you can buy that is like a wire with a flat end on it that you can stick to the cpu for correct temperatures. They arent expensive, look on frozencpu.com for one if you cant get another program to work. Check the bios to see what it says for the temperature too. If the bios says the wrong temp, the temperature sensor is faulty.

I had the same problem with my AV8. The temp sensor on this board is junk. Try resetting the cmos. It should fix it.

Really? Bonus. It happened just after i installed this new HSF. I spent like an hour getting it PERFECT. ill be pissed if i have to reseat it again already

You mean reflash the bios or use the cmos jumper?

Another thing, i dont mean to sound too noob, but where are the "System" and "PWM" sensors?

First try the cmos jumper. If not that, then reseat. I'm pretty sure the ZIF on that board hits the temp sensor. You notice a click when you raise or lower the locking bar. System is a sensor on the MB. not sure where. PWM is temperature of the CPU's power delivery system, the mosfets and capacitors next to the socket.

no, you didn't break it. It's just something with the board design. Just try the CMOS first. Also note that the board usually reports cpu temps as much as 3-5 degrees higher than they actually are.

ZIF means "zero insertion force".

You might want to reflash your bios, alot of times that will correct it.

Also the temp in the bios is 80% load.
