SUPER high temps!?

Thread Starter
i've bin wondering if my cpu temps are to high ? at idle they run about 55-60 degrees C.. and under load they have gone as high as 75 degrees C. is this to high ? i've seen other amd 3700 processor temps and there no where near mine ! i baught the processor new with the gigabyte mobo, the stock clock was 2.4gh i have only over clocked it to 2.6, it won't let me get passed 2.7.. it does have a better heatsink but still is no diference than the stock. i've tried repasting the heatsink and all that and the temps didn't get much better.. so is mine just natural hot or what ? all advice would be greatly appreciated!

How are you detirmining these temps? soft ware if so feel the top of the heatsink and see if the soft ware is generally accurate... 60C would burn you thats around 150-200F

That is really high. I just built a rig with a 3700 and they run about 45-50 C on full load with stock cooling. I would reseat the heatsink and make sure that the thermal paste is applied well. If that doesn't work maybe try re-installing the bios because that could be a mistake.
Edit: what were the general temps not OCed?

YOu have your fans backwards...intake on front/ side.....exhaust on back. Try it that way.

Which way is the fan blowing on the heatsink, towards or away, what sort of heatsink are you using if its not stock. Make sure the fan is actually running all of the time. Speedfan could be throttling it maybe?
