NTLDR Is missing...WTF

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
So I decided after 12 days of being on my PC should shut off. I turn it back to start a research paper and yeah...I get

"NTLDR is missing
Press CTRL+ ALT + DEL to restart"

I got it fixed with google, but what caused this? I haven't added hard drives or anything lately. And now it has to select some option and I'm not too sure it actually works. I wanted to post this now in case I had to work through the problem again.

I had the exact same problem, it was caused by a faulty SATA Cable.

Just replace the SATA Cable and you should be good to go

You can also use the "Windows Recovery Console" on the XP CD to re copy the corrupt file's if it's not the SATA Cable.

If this is the case then you will have to type the following;

copy e:\\i386\
tldr c:\\
copy e:\\i386\
tdetect.com c:\\

Be sure to replace "e" with your correct designated optical drive letter.
