The Venomous-X causes damage to the socket if the pressure mount is at 70lbs or more. So if you get the Ven-X keep the pressure lower than 70lbs!

Proof please? My buddy has a Venomous X installed at max pressure and this would be bad...

Here's proof http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...y-cripple.html you better tell him ASAP. Good thing I don't use an Intel because I would of used this at max pressure when I first got it.

Thanks for that word of caution.

I'm probably going to stick with a TT 120 E for $65 shipping included. If I was to get the Venomous X + a Gentle Typhoon it'd come out to $85+shipping, a possible 5 degree decrease doesn't justify ~$20+ to me.

I'll keep an eye out for possible sales on either the Megahalems or Venomous X this week. This is going to be a LONG week waiting till Friday so I can start buying everything, well the weekend will be insane while I wait for everything to arrive lol.

Edit: Okay I somehow missed a Venomous X for sale because it was just had Ven X in the title... So I'll try to get that and it comes with 2 Yate Loons.

For your processor if you have a Microcenter where you live they have the i7-930 on sale for $199.99. After taxes I paid like $217. You will save about 70 bucks which you can put towards something else or just save.

No Microcenter near me , closest one is in CA.
But I might be getting a used i7 920 for $180. Might not be one of the best batch numbers but eh for $100 less I won't complain if I can't go past 4GHz @ 1.4-5V.

Aw too bad. The only reason for 4Ghz+ is bragging anyways...I only plan to OC my 930 to the 3.7-3.8 range once my cooler comes in.

Yea I don't really need the bragging rights, but that doesn't mean I won't try to get them!

Looking around for a monitor I found this Asus VH242H available at a Fry's near my work for just $149.99 after the rebate! I guess I'll just deal with having to turn down effects in my games earlier than expected.

Edit: Unpacked the monitor to try it out on my laptop, there is some bleeding of light on the left/right when I have the black screen on, my peripheral vision shows some flickering at the bottom too but when I look at the spot I don't see anything though...I think that's just my eyes. Going to check for dead pixels but overall I'm very satisfied with this monitor.

I've had a laptop with 1920x1200 before but 1900x1080 on 23.6" seems a lot better.

No dead pixels, noticed some more light leakage at the top/bottom as well but it's not too bad and only when the screen is all black. For $150 I don't think I could have gotten a much better deal on a monitor.

All parts have been purchased, I was able to get some extra cash and up by budget by ~$200 so I'm getting a SSD and a Xonar Essence STX card and some other extras.

My build now:

i7 920 C0, Batch #3837B317, seems to be a nice batch but who knows how mine will be
2x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB, Raid 1 or just a monthly backup
Kingston 30GB SSD w/3.5" adapter, Boot Drive for MS 7 and maybe firefox/steam
Venomous X w/2 Yate Loons & Shin Etsu X23, Fans are set up in dual Push
Gigabyte GA-x58A-UD3R
CM Silent Pro M600
M$ 7
G.Skill PI 6GB
HAF 932
Asus VH242H 23.6" 1900x1080
XFX 5870
Sony Optiarc DVDR
NZXT Sentry 2, if the fan noise is too loud, otherwise I'll return/sell it
Asus Xonar Essence STX

Total seems to be ~$1,700-$1,800, not too shabby considering I was used to purchasing laptops for gaming that cost more than $2000 and were able to get 'decent' fps in modern games .

Funny thing happened while ordering. I added everything from a wishlist without getting combo deals and had unknowingly hit the accept button.
Then I went back and re-added everything with the combo discounts etc.. and I just saw 2 orders processing . Thankfully I was able to cancel the order without the discounts

Started build this thing today, 3 hours in I'm about 1/2 way done. Gotta put in the PSU, HDD's, and do some cable management.

I was wondering, for the chassis to mobo connections like the power button, hdd led's, etc.. how do I know which colored wire is + and which is -?
What I did so far is assume the white wire is -. There are some 2x orange/white, 1x black/white, and one green/white cables that I have hooked up to my mobo that I am unsure of, I can provide pictures if necessary tomorrow night.
