GTX480 SLI Benchmarks

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm in the process of obtaining a couple GTX 480's for some SLI action and i was wondering if you guys could post some benchmarks or tell me what kind of performance I can expect, I'm upgrading from 4890's in crossfire. I've read some reviews online but I wanted to see some real life benchmarks (games only) on 1920x 1200.

Wow Thanks a lot +rep. So crysis is pretty much maxed. I've never used Heaven, is that for DX11 cards? Can't wait for these cards

Yeah, DX 11. I tried running Heaven 2.1 but it's pretty buggy, everything is about 10% lower and it has refresh problems. I have other DX11 games Batman

Tesselation is a big deal, everything is put together better, no more getting shot by the AI because it sees a crack in the textures.

Oh, Stalker Pripyat is DX11 but I benched it on DX10.1.

Thanks, no need to post Far Cry 2. I just wanted to get an idea of how much of an improvement they were going to be compared to my 4890's in cf. Now I just need to get rid of my 4890's and I'm set

Edit: Oh yea I might space out the cards so there's a gap between them for cooling purposed, do you think running one of the cards at x8 pci slots will make a big difference. I read somewhere it was only a 2% difference

Yeah, it's not a major difference depending on the game, some 10fps, others 20fps but you still gain more than you loose. I wouldn't be worried about it though. Mine are stacked with only the foam tabs to seperate them and the top one still always runs below 87c. One thing though, I did replace the TIM with IC Diamond, it dropped 10c overall.

You think having them next to each other could lead to overheating or overheating my other components. I have 8 fans plus a big one on the side of the case.

Im sure it will be fine with good air flow. Thats at stock. Not sure how hot these get with an OC.

Thinking about getting a couple of these myself one day

They get REALLY hot with OC. Not so much with the increase in clocks, but with the raise of voltage that accompanies overclocking.
