Mooly Eden has been running around saying that he thinks that Intel will have a 20% speed advantage on the desktop for the rest of the year, and he is right.

It has been a long time since I have been so excited about a chip release. The idea that I can now move to a single platform rather than two machines is what is driving me.

It's going to take some patience for me to await testing before purchasing. The premise for spending the money is simple. I told my wife that I will not need two machines anymore and will get rid of both with the end result being one new one.

My gaming rig is my sig. I also have a machine that I use for my working/multi-media (Household MCE) video work. I have held off on purchasing dual core Intel (as the negatives seemed to outweigh the positives) awaiting the news and tests of Conroe because I want to have a singular machine. My wife and children have their own computers as well but I would like to exchange my two boxes for a singular one.

I'm actually excited on both companies new releases for chips because I'm in dire need up an upgrade. I can't stand the heat this POS Intel chips put out so Intel better do something about the heat these things put out as they claim or I'm done with Intel.

It was said earlier that these new intel chips are ~20% faster than AMD 939s, and the M2s aren't supposed to be much better than the 939s at the start...Intel "chipzilla" might take the crown back.
