Will need assistance OCing my new system

Other than the RAM, my system should be ready to overclock like a beast!

Check system specs, thursday it should all be in. Will not need directions, just some assistance (ie voltages; etc) when I'm doing this

first off the bat, what's a good voltage to run a presler 940 at ?

I've never used pci-e freq. overclocking, is this recommended?

a 3.2 on watercooling - do you think I could squeeze 5.0 (not necessarily stable)

woah, nice setup... intresting you went for valueram...
Ok, my stock (920) is at 1.28v, which is the same for you. So, you should be good up to 1.4v or around that area depending on the temps. 4GHz should be a cake walk with that setup, though for a max, 4.5GHz depending on your temps. DDR2 ram will make up the difference in the Ram.

off topic, but have you flashed that x1900xt to x1900xtx yet?

From what I know, lock your PCI frequency at 66/33. If you don't it auto overclocks i think. When i didnt lock it, i lost all sound on my computer.

At stock Vc you can go as high as 250fsb, I'd say 260fsb-to-300fsb in the 1.45v-1.47v. RAM ratio? Start with a 1:1 and them move onto a 3:5, find the right spot where your new RAM will be able to handle the 3:5 which is the recommended setting. 250-300fsb RAM should be in the 2.2v to the max...2.3v. MCH 1.6v.

Lock pci's to 33.33 and 100. Don't let them sit on AUTO, when you're about to overclock the CPU to 250fsb and beyond. Disable Turbo Mode, CPU Thermal Control, HyperPath 3.

A 641 was overclocked to 4.8ghz on pure air, most likely that 940, depending on how good that WC kit is, you'll see 5.0ghz but Vc would be in the 1.55v-1.60v to become stable. But it's upto you to let the CPU run with those IMO over the limit Vc, my limit has always been 1.48v.

Here's the link for the 641 OC to 4,897mhz being air-cooled: LINK.

i agree im @ 1.475 in 4.6 to 4.7 range but my MB has shtty unstable voltage regulation, my system total froze did nothing when i hit the power button @ 1.6 something , you have a better board i think so youll prob be fine. these preslers like volts

I will get good RAM when its a bit cheaper, I like the corsair pc8000 stuff, but paying $1400 AUS for a 2gb kit seems a bit of a waste right now,

no I havent flashed my x1900 XT as I believe to run it in crossfire you require pure xt 's? one crossfire edition,

yes thanks for the compliment I've wanting to build this 'beast' for a while, hopefully I'll get 18 months of GOOD use from it.....

any more comments/ sugggestions welcome, I am not fussed about shortening the CPU life cycle... GIVE ME MORE GHZ!

I realise your PCI bus freq. should stay at 33, along with AGP @ 66 - however, this board has no AGP slot and PCI-Express apparently has seperate overclock settings which according to the notes/help in BIOS it says it will help with a more stable overclock but can damage your parts quicker.

So I was referring specifically to the PCI-Express overclock setting - should I mess with that or just leave it locked?

Cheers.
