Battlefield 2 crashed randomly... what gives?

For a few weeks now Battlefield 2 has been crasheing whenever my brother or myself get into a game. My brother has experianced this more than me, and he has no clue. he's still has a lot to learn about computers and what have you. My geuss is mabey something with the last released patch. But mabey it's something else... any suggestions?

Problems:
-Map loads and then crashed and goes to desktop.
-Bro has had the computer crash completely to a blue screen, but nothing is messed up on the computer as far as lost files ans such.
-Game has crashed in the middle of a game.

Did you upgrade to XP SP2? Try updating your sound card drivers, and video card drivers. If all else fails, reinstall the game.

Are computer came with SP2. Right now my computer isn't up and running so I installed BF2 on our DELL. It's got integrated sound and and X300 video card. So once I get my computer running, we're uninstalling the game from the computer and he's going to buy his own copy and install it on this the DELL and I'll take my CD's back.

But I'll check and see if there's any driver updates I need.

hey i get the same thing and it is really annoying.

here are the instances when it crashes :

1when it finishes loading a map and you press join game it will return to desktop
2 in the middle of a game it quits to desktop

emailed ea about it but none of there suggestions work.

i think it is to do with the latest patch? as i have all the latest drivers.
my system is prime 95 stable and memtest stable so i done think its my configurations

My CPU temps are about 30 degress when loading using smart guardian and mbm 5.

gfx card says temps of 42

i have heard my mobo may have inaccuracies when reading temps but that should be the case for all mobo.

the CPU heatsink is not hot at all and is actually very cool. this is when touching with fingers.

i really dont think it is a heat issue as i have brought BF2 special forces and that works ok. It sometimes crashes to desktop but not often at all.

only thing i can think of is the patch 1.2.

do you mean that in the middle of the game, it closes itself down randomly, because i have experianced it many times if u do, and whats even wierder i was on skype with my mate, and his shut down at the same time. The only thing possible but unlikeley to pin it to would be the fact that we were in a helecopter

Its definitely with the new patch, I have experienced this crashing a lot on custom maps ever since the new 1.20 patch but never fear, 1.21 should be out very soon..............hopefully.
